OACETT is Ontario's independent certifying body for engineering and applied science technicians and technologists and confers the designations C. Certified Technician and C. Certified Engineering Technologist.
These designations are recognized across Canada by employers and other engineering professionals. The A. OACETT promotes the interests of engineering and applied science technicians and technologists in industry, educational institutions, the public and government.
Later, the provincial legislature passed the OACETT Act of , a revised act that includes a description of work for technicians and technologists. As an applicant for C. Ontario is a province in east-central Canada that borders the U. Toronto, Ontario's capital, is home to the m-high CN Tower, with expansive views from its revolving restaurant.

A revised version of the act was passed by the provincial legislature in It includes a panel of professional members that evaluates applications for certification and registers engineering and applied science technicians and technologists who meet established Canadian standards in education and experience.

These symbols are legally protected for use only by certified members, in the same manner that the PEO protects the use of the P. Although OACETT interacts closely with the provincial and federal governments, it is not a governmental organization, and receives no governmental funding. The association's affairs are governed by an elected council of technician and technologist members. Much of the association's operation is aided by volunteer members.
