They fix many quest bugs. No, I didn't. SevenSidedDie: is there any method to reset the quest? That's one of the few unalterable parts of a save file.

Furthermore there is no quest marker on the map or on my compass. I'm just told to go the Winking Skeever by Delphine and the journal. Even Clairvoyance doesn't work. What does it say when I use Clairvoyance? No Quest Active. The quest is in my journal but as far as the game is concerned there is no quest and there is no Malborn. He does not exist in my game.

He is a non-entity. There is nothing. To matters even worse nobody else seems to be having this problem. I've loaded up previous saves and started new characters to see if this was just a corrupted save but guess what the outcome of that was?

Rayven Global Moderator. Where does 'placemeat' put you? First I did prid 33f46 Malborn's ref id to target him, followed by player. So, I tried player. Setting the quest to stage 70 allowed me to give Malborn equipment and I'm now to meet Delphine at the stables. Will post back if this fixes me up - I might still run into issues along the way, but at least I'm on the next part.
